Why this works

Comprehension grows one word at a time

Reading isn't one skill but two: recognizing the words, and understanding what they mean together. A child can read every word aloud and still miss the point — usually because a few key words in the passage are unknown. Vocabulary is the quiet engine of comprehension.

BrainBite trains both at once. Short passages at exactly the right level, questions that go from 'what does it say' to 'what does it mean', and new words that come back in later texts until they're truly known. Ten minutes a day quietly compounds into a strong reader.

Inference: the skill reading tests really measure

'Why did Maya slam the door?' The answer is never written in the text — your child has to read between the lines. BrainBite builds this up gently: first find what the text says, then what it shows, then what it means. The exact skill every reading test rewards.

Common reading mix-ups

Four classic trip-ups nearly every child (and let's be honest: every parent) stumbles over.

Is a synonym the same as an antonym?

Opposites. Synonyms mean the same (big/large), antonyms mean the opposite (big/small). The 'anti' gives it away.

'Broccoli is disgusting' — fact or opinion?

Opinion. A fact can be checked; an opinion is what someone thinks. Watch for words like best, worst and disgusting.

'It was raining cats and dogs' — really?

No — it's an idiom. It just means raining very hard. Figurative language means more than the literal words.

Skimming or reading carefully?

Depends on the question. Skim to find where the answer lives, then read that part carefully. Two speeds, one reader.
